Growing up I used to LOVE going to open houses with my Mom, but it wasn’t until I went through the home buying process myself that I realized how overwhelming it could be and how important it was to have a knowledgeable guide. I never anticipated how proud I would be of myself, and how powerful I would feel purchasing my own home. I want to help other people do that. I love Philadelphia. I’ve watched her grow over the years into a world-class city with a huge personality, uniquely her own. How lucky are we to live in a city with such a variety of distinctly different neighborhoods to explore? I want to share it all!
In 2008 I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Graphic Design. I swung through Philadelphia on my way to job hunt in NYC, and decided to make this city my home. I bought a heavy duty U-lock for my bike and moved into a microscopic 180 SF studio in Center City on Walnut street. I eventually moved to the Graduate Hospital area, before finally buying my home in Fishtown in 2013.
Prior to obtaining my real estate license and joining the Philly Home Girls, I worked as a Graphic Designer. I was first introduced to the world of commercial real estate while working in the CBRE Marketing Department. I joined the Philly Home Girls so I could draw real value from the work I do and the relationships I nurture. I want to help people not only find their ideal home, but also guide them as they invest themselves in the city. It is my goal to help my clients plant their roots and continue to grow and improve our city’s neighborhoods, communities and schools.
When I'm not fiddling with keys and lockboxes, you can find me tooling around on my bike, checking out pop-up beer gardens and taking pictures of our cat Aunt Helen and our adopted pittie Petunia.
There were so many moving parts with both home and Rachel was on top of everything, helping explain things to us, and guide us every step of the way. She was always easy to talk to, gave it to us straight, and helped us weigh big decisions with confidence.
She really made the process manageable and understandable and our house sale closed 2 months after we initially went on market.
She was referred by a friend, and from our first meeting, she took the time to understand our interests and made us feel comfortable and confident every step of the way.
Her negotiation skills and market knowledge made all the difference, ensuring the client got the home he wanted at a great price. If you're looking for a realtor who is not only skilled but also genuinely cares about their clients, I highly recommend Rachel Shaw.
Rachel has been doing this a long time, and has incredible insight on what types of updates to consider/prioritize that will increase the value and interest in the house (which was very helpful for me because my house needed some major refreshing, but with a very tight budget)
She never pressured me to make any rushed decisions and always had my best interests in mind. Lastly, Rachel is very supportive. Sometimes the home search process can be overwhelming, nerve-wracking, and even discouraging. But Rachel always maintained an optimistic attitude that helped encourage me to keep on the journey.
When the inspections revealed some issues we weren't anticipating, she negotiated a great deal to get the sellers to resolve the issues at their expense and still get us the house we wanted without even having to move the closing date.
Rachel's keen eye for detail was apparent in every aspect of her work. From the initial staging of our home to the final closing, she ensured that every detail was meticulously handled. Her ability to showcase our property's best features undoubtedly contributed to the swift and successful sale.
She walked us through literally everything. We also loved that we were able to reach her through text for this reason, we had a ton of questions usually. In the end she found us our dream home and we could not be more grateful!
She was able to provide advice, recommendations, and support through the fun and stressful parts of the home buying process.
We were newbies in a competitive market but she never faltered and after putting in 4 offers over a few months we were able to snag a great home perfect for us.
Even with some minor hiccup, she made this experience as stress-free as possible. Excited to recommend her to friends and family in the future!!
She exhibited immense patience, guiding me through every step of the process with ease. Thanks to her expertise and dedication, my home-buying experience went smoothly.
Negotiated a great contract—she kept all parties moving and accountable during the closing process. I can't imagine buying a house could go much smoother.
We were fortunate to call Rachel Shaw a friend prior to working with her so we knew we'd have a great experience...and we were right.
I never once felt that Rachel was acting as an order taker. She truly cared, was quick to respond, understood my situation, and had answers immediately....if not immediately within the hour
Rachel also took great care to point out not only the great parts of properties but also things that we should be mindful of as first-time homeowners.
I have worked with Rachel for over 5 years - from buying to leasing and then finally selling my house, and we have done it all while I was out of the state!
She knows all the ins and outs of things to look for when buying a home in Philly and making sure that you are making the best of your new investment. Once we were under contract for our home, the process was very simple and organized with her team in order to hit all necessary deadlines.
She was extremely knowledgeable about the neighborhood that I was looking in and had plenty of excellent recommendations and advice for me when I needed it.
Her recommendations for staging the house and the pricing strategy were right on, and the photos and listing description she crafted really highlighted what was special about the house.
She has a deep understanding of the local market and I could tell she was attentive to her clients which was important to me. She grasped right away what I was looking for and we got the first house we toured with the first offer we made. Rachel made the process painless, even fun.
She has a deep understanding of the local market and I could tell she was attentive to her clients which was important to me since I was out of state, traveling for work, and house hunting all at the same time
Rachel helped me find a great rental house and gave very solid advice and guidance throughout the process.
Great listing strategy, priced the house perfectly, great photos/listing description, painless negotiations, closed quickly.
She helped to guide me as a first-time home buyer years ago with months of house hunting to find the perfect little rehab (which she is now helping me rent out) and just recently was a rockstar navigating our new construction upgrade purchase, which threw us a few curve balls!
Rachel is an amazing agent! She was very patient, flexible, fun but most importantly helped me narrow down what I want and need from my future home.
When our timeline suddenly shifted up, Rachel did a tremendous job making sure we were prepared (re: pre-approved) and pulled together a comprehensive list of homes for us to see across the neighborhoods we were interested in.
She made the entire process easy to understand and was extremely upfront about what needed to be done when and what fees to expect.
